American River Courtyard, CSU Sacramento
Sacramento, California
California State University, Sacramento
138 units | 600 beds | 209,000 sf
The new housing complex is constructed on a site at the northern end of the campus. The new building brings apartment-style living to the campus by way of multiple wings that respect both the existing student housing village and the edge formed by the esplanade. In addition to housing, the new facility features 4,000 sf of retail space.
The building floor plan reinforces the existing neighborhood context while simultaneously creating a community center. The common use facilities such as a classroom, printing lab, laundry room, and mailroom, are centrally located in the heart of the complex. The courtyard within the complex is accessible to all students and residents in the surrounding housing. Its richly landscaped gardens provide a comfortable backdrop to the conference center. American River Courtyard is the first LEED Gold certified project on campus.
